The district police hauled huge quantity of pirated and blue film cds from Sambalpur after series of raids on the video parlors and CD shops on Wednesday night. The police also arrested 10 shops owners in this connection and forwarded them to the judicial custody under violation of Indian copyright act.
Sources said, acting on the request of the Western Orissa album producers association, police raided various video parlors and seized more than 10 thousands pirated and duplicate CDs on Wednesday night. The raid was continued for more than 3 hours. “We seized more than 10 thousands CDs along with 200 blue cds raiding 10 such shops under Town, Ainthapali and Dhanupali police stations of Sambalpur town. We have also arrested 10 persons involved in the racket. We forwarded them to the judicial custody on Thursday”, the SDPO (sambalpur) Dilip Kumar Deo told
It may be informed that a racket that active weill under the nose of the district administration in Sambalpur town since a long time was engaged in nafarious activitites with the active support of the few government officials. the western orissa album producers assiciation had organised a demonstration infront of the RDC office demanding action against the buying a selling of pirated CDs in the marker. However action could not intiated because of the political connection of the accused persons.They had even asked the admintartion to find out the main culprits who engaged innocent youths in this nefarious activities.
